One of the religious images was translated as the “Stop sign”. However, a more accurate translation is the “Stopper sign” or “Shield of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ“. This is a very specific image of the Most Sacred Heart related to the story of a young Roman soldier who was protected while wearing the shield in battle defending the pope. I have provided more information below.

ORIGIN OF THE STOPPER SIGN OR SHIELD OF THE MOST SACRED HEART OF JESUS

Among the various representations of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, one stands out for the miraculous circumstance in which it became famous in the eyes of the Catholic world. It is about the “Stop!”, A piece of cloth where the figure of the divine Heart revealed to Saint Margaret Mary is painted or bordered, framed by the phrase: “Stop, the Heart of Jesus is with me!”

The origin of this pious object is attached to a case of supernatural protection with which a young Roman was favored, who enlisted as a pontifical zouave to defend the Papacy in the Italian unification wars of the s.
